Statements stay yours

The original PDF is never stored, and we never ask for banking credentials.

“I have income — but I don't know where it goes, and I'm probably leaving benefits on the table.

Most people living in Canada juggle accounts across several banks. Without one place to see it all, tracking spending takes constant effort and still leaves gaps.

Meanwhile the benefits system — TFSA room, CCB, RRSP deductions, provincial credits — quietly goes unclaimed.

Three pillars

From scattered statements to a plan you control

QuackBalance turns raw bank PDFs into clarity, opportunity, and control — without ever touching your banking login.

01 — CLARITY

Every account, one view

Upload your monthly PDF statements. We normalize and auto-categorize every transaction, so all your banks live in a single dashboard.

  • Spending by category, month over month
  • Recurring and essential bills tracked apart
  • Unusual spending surfaced automatically
02 — OPPORTUNITY

Benefits, surfaced for you

From your profile — province, residency, employment, family — QuackBalance flags the Canadian benefits you may qualify for.

  • CCB, TFSA, FHSA, RRSP and provincial credits
  • Eligibility filtered by your situation
  • Personalized ways to save aligned to you
03 — CONTROL

Goals that get closerSOON

Plan short, medium and long-term objectives, and watch your progress move as the months roll in.

  • Set targets tied to your real cash flow
  • Track progress against monthly snapshots
  • Feature scope expanding in a future release
How it works

Six steps from upload to insight

Parsing happens in your browser. Only the transaction data needed to power your dashboard is ever extracted.

1

Build your profile

Province, residency, employment, family. This is what makes benefit matching possible.

2

Add an account

Pick your bank and account type. We assign the right parser automatically.

3

Upload a statement

Drop in the monthly PDF from your bank. Transactions are read and normalized.

4

Review in three passes

Confirm internal transfers, merchant breakdowns, and anything still uncategorized.

5

See your dashboard

One unified month: spend by category, recurrents, anomalies, comparisons.

6

Act on insights

Eligible benefits and unusual spending, flagged against your profile and history.

Radical privacy

Your statements never leave your browser.

Most personal finance apps ask for your bank login. We think that's a bad trade. QuackBalance reads your PDF statements locally, right inside your browser tab, and only sends categorized summaries to the cloud — with your explicit consent, every time.

  • No bank credentials. Ever. We can't ask for what we don't want.
  • PDFs stay on your device. Processing happens in a Web Worker inside your browser.
  • Verifiable in your DevTools. Open the Network tab — you'll see we don't upload files.
  • You choose what's saved. Individual transactions and summaries — with consent, every import.
What you get

Every month, every dollar, in its place.

Categorized transactions across all your Canadian bank accounts. Weekly and monthly summaries. Alerts when something's off. Insights you can actually act on.

Multi-account dashboard

Chequing, savings, credit cards, TFSA, RRSP and FHSA — all consolidated. Filter, compare, and see the whole picture.

Smart categorization

Purchases mapped to the right category automatically — Loblaws → Groceries, Rogers → Telecom, Tim Hortons → Coffee.

Credit-card protection

Track due dates, utilization and interest cost across every card. Never pay a late fee by accident again.

Weekly rhythm

Find the best week of the month to contribute to goals or investments — based on your actual cashflow patterns.

Canadian benefits, built in

TFSA and RRSP contribution room, FHSA eligibility, Ontario Trillium credit, GST/HST — flagged when they apply to you.

Import reminders

Gentle nudge once a month to keep your statements fresh — so your dashboard reflects reality, not last quarter.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

Which Canadian banks do you support?

QuackBalance is built with dedicated parsers for Canada's Big 5 — TD, RBC, BMO, Scotiabank and CIBC — across chequing, savings, credit card, RRSP and FHSA accounts. RBC is live today; the rest are rolling out through 2026 as each is calibrated and published.

Why PDFs and not open banking?

Canada's open banking framework isn't fully live yet. PDF statements work for every bank today, every account type, without giving up your credentials.

Is this really free?

Yes — the core dashboard, categorization and multi-account view are permanently free. Pro adds report exports and QuackInsights.

What happens to my data?

PDFs are read in your browser and discarded from memory after processing. Only categorized transactions and monthly summaries are saved to our servers — with your consent, every import.

Can I use it as a non-citizen?

Absolutely. QuackBalance works for citizens, permanent residents, work and study permit holders — the benefits catalog adjusts to your residency status.

Can I cancel Pro anytime?

Any time. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period, then your account moves back to Free — your data is always kept.
